How to use this calculator

Formula
Order volume = area × depth × (1 + waste); bags = ceil(volume ÷ bag yield)
Areas are normalized, multiplied by uniform depth, and increased by the entered allowance.
Calculation steps
- Sum separate areas.
- Multiply area by finished depth.
- Apply allowance.
- Round bag quantity upward.
- Apply optional pricing.
Worked example
A 5 m × 4 m bed at 7.5 cm deep needs 1.5 m³ before allowance; 10% produces 1.65 m³.

- Areas do not overlap.
- Depth is uniform.
- Bag yield is supplier volume.
- The 2–4 inch note is a mulch reference, not a soil rule.
- Cost excludes delivery, tax, labor, and equipment.
