Formula

Collectable = area × effective rain × efficiency

Effective rain is rainfall minus the entered first flush, not less than zero.

Calculation steps

  • Calculate projected catchment area.
  • Convert rain and first flush to depth.
  • Apply roof efficiency.
  • Apply tank capacity and starting storage.
  • Deduct batch demand and report overflow or shortage.

Worked example

A 100 m² roof receiving 10 mm at 80% efficiency yields 0.8 m³ before tank limits when first flush is zero.
